California EHR system tracks diabetes management, compliance
EHR Connection, May 21, 2007
Patients with diabetes who receive care at Darin M. Camarena Health Centers, a three-site clinic in Madera County, CA, will receive more help managing their disease through an EHR system designed to manage and enhance treatment compliance for patients with diabetes. The centers have implemented the InteGreat EHR system, which helps patients who have chronic diseases manage their treatments, and enables physicians to monitor patient compliance and treatment schedules.
Physicians can access patient diagnostic information in real-time, and if the patient is not complying with treatments, the EHR will post an automatic alert. The EHR tracks patient demographics, health summaries, lab and radiology reports, and transcribed documents. The EHR can function as a reminder to help physicians comply with diabetes preventive care guidelines, according to a report in Health Management Technology this month.
