CMS issues memorandum for ASC backup power requirements
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, May 22, 2007
Under certain circumstances, ASCs are allowed to use batteries for backup power, according to a new CMS memorandum.
The memorandum reiterates the requirements for Type I Essential Electrical Systems with generators and informs readers that it is now permissible to use backup batteries.
