Seven traits key to satisfaction
Healthcare Strategist Trend Watch, April 13, 2007
Seven specific characteristics-all related to communication and follow-up care-can determine whether a patient is satisfied with his or her physician, according to the Web site DrScore, which allows patients to rate their level of physician satisfaction.
According to DrScore, physician satisfaction rates are highly influenced by successful ratings in:
Physician access
Communication
Personality and demeanor of provider
Quality of medical-care processes
Care continuity
Quality of the healthcare facilities
Office staff
Physicians who did not receive good ratings on DrScore were most frequently criticized for their lack of communication, barriers to access, care coordination, and interpersonal skills.
The study was published in the March/April The Journal of Medical Practice Management.
