Pharmaceutical ads drive Internet searches
Healthcare Strategist Trend Watch, April 13, 2007
Pharmaceutical ads drive consumers to search online for information about advertised medical conditions, according to a study from Manhattan Research, a New York City-based market research firm.
The study shows the impact of drug advertisements on the health-seeking behavior of consumers who view the ads. Of the almost 5,000 adults surveyed, one-third reported their research was a direct result of seeing a drug advertisement.
The top five conditions researched online because of television ads are:
Restless Leg Syndrome
Smoking/smoking cessation
Erectile dysfunction
Acne
Human Papillomavirus
