Physicians rank Cigna as top health insurer

Physicians ranked Cigna Healthcare UnitedHealth as the best overall payer among the seven largest national health insurers, according to a survey of 8,500 doctors conducted by Athenahealth.
Cigna moved up from the fifth spot overall in 2006. The rankings too into account measures of financial and administrative performance, as well as medical policy complexity. After Cigna, the top payers ranked as follows:
- Aetna
- Medicare - B
- Humana
- UnitedHealth Group
- Wellpoint
- Conventry Health Care
