Tip of the week: Identify the reasons for linen supply problems
Healthcare Security Weekly, April 30, 2007
If your hospital is trying to determine what's behind its dwindling linen supply, don't assume that theft is the only reason. Many factors contribute to inventory shortages, including the following:

· Hoarding linen on the nursing units
· Poorly maintaining scales for weighing clean and soiled linen
· Failing to know the weight difference between soiled and clean linen
· Poor record keeping
· Shortages created at the supply source
