Gunmen attack hospital in Mexico

Healthcare Security Weekly, April 23, 2007

A busy public hospital in Tijuana, Mexico that serves the city's poorest residents was the scene of a shootout Wednesday in which two law-enforcement offers were killed, reported the San Diego Union-Tribune.

The shooting left hundreds of frightened patients and staff members locked inside the 120-bed General Hospital for several hours as police searched for suspects, the newspaper reported. The hospital was partly evacuated, with some patients temporarily moved to a city park across the street.
