Indiana University develops portal for cancer patients
EHR Connection, April 16, 2007
Indiana University (IU) is creating a Web portal that will provide accurate and updated cancer information on patients' symptoms and treatment options, the Indianapolis Star reports. Patients at IU's Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center will be able to upload personalized information through a secure password-protected section of the portal, which physicians will be able to access. Patients also will be able to fill out medical questionnaires from their home computers to ensure that their information is complete.
The portal's information may help physicians understand patient reactions to certain cancer treatments and improve the management of patient care by reducing the amount of inaccurate or potentially detrimental cancer information on the Internet. Go to Indiana U's site to learn more.
