Tip of the week: Be sure to keep wireless device policies up to date
Healthcare Security Weekly, April 9, 2007
If the last time your hospital revisited its cell phone policy was back during the Clinton Administration, new studies suggest that it might be time to update your approach for 2007.
Make sure that revisions discuss the use of Bluetooth, wireless notebooks, and any other battery-powered gizmos that patients, families, and staff members tote around. These devices emit signals that could--although they probably won't--interfere with hospital equipment.
To learn more about the latest wireless technology, go to go to www.hcpro.com/ppv-68935.html. The cost is $10. Briefings on Hospital Safety subscribers received this story with their subscriptions.
