Residents file a class-action suit against 13 SNFs
LTC Liability Monitor, April 3, 2007
Thousands of California residents are filing a class-action lawsuit against 13 California nursing homes accusing them of abuse and fraud, reported the Los Angeles Times. The facilities-run by the Life Care Centers of America Inc., Tennessee-based-are accused of violating patient rights and providing substandard care between 2003 and 2007. The lawsuit claimed that the nursing homes have a history of violating laws designed to protect the elderly. It asked the court for an independent monitor to keep an eye on the facilities to prevent further abuse, reported the Los Angeles Times.
