Tip of the week: Make your buildings more accessible to public transportation

Healthcare Security Weekly, March 26, 2007

There are a number of ways managers can make their hospital more ecofriendly. One way is to increase access to public transportation.

This not only creates better access for patients who can't or won't drive, but also cuts down on greenhouse gas creation. It's easier to do this with new construction or major renovations, but if your existing building is more than a half mile from a commuter rail or subway or a quarter mile from the nearest bus stop, you can still set up shuttle van service to and from the station.
