Connecticut physicians may see 3% revenue tax
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, March 20, 2007
Lawmakers in Connecticut are weighing a 3% tax on physicians' revenues, according to the Hartford Courant.
If the tax goes into effect, it would help pay for a statewide $900 million universal healthcare plan
In addition to taxing healthcare providers, lawmakers are initiating a new vanity tax on elective cosmetic surgery to fund the proposal.
To lessen the financial impact on physicians, the plan calls for an increase of 30% in Medicaid reimbursement.
