Bausch & Lomb lenses receive NTIOL designation
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, March 20, 2007
Bausch & Lomb announced the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services designated two of its intraocular lenses as New Technology Intraocular Lens (NTIOL), according to the Rochester Business Journal.
The lenses receiving the designation were the SofPort Advanced Optics and SofPort Advanced Optics with violet shield technology.
The NTIOL designation means CMS will reimburse ambulatory surgery centers an additional $50 when cataract surgery is performed using the lenses.
The additional payment for these lenses will remain in effect until February 2011.
