Staff member admits to starting nursing home fire

An employee at a Calhoun, GA, nursing home has been charged with arson for setting a fire last week at the facility, reported the Calhoun Times. The 19-year-old employee of was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree arson, said a spokesman with the Georgia Insurance Commissioner's Office. The employee confessed to starting the fire in the nursing home's laundry room, which is separate from the center's living quarters. None of the nursing home's 98 residents were hurt in the fire, which was quickly contained and did little damage, according to the Times.
