Patients encouraged to ask questions

A national advertising campaign is encouraging patients to empower themselves by asking questions to improve their healthcare. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and Advertising Council's television, radio, print, and Web advertisements encourage listeners and viewers to call a toll-free number or visit its Web site to learn how their questions can prevent medical mistakes and make them more involved in their own care. The Web site's Question Builder helps patients build a list of customized questions they should ask their doctor.
