Hospitals embrace massage
Healthcare Strategist Trend Watch, March 9, 2007
The stress-relieving benefits of muscular therapy have been known for years, but it wasn't until recently that some hospitals have recognized the health benefits of a good massage.
A story in Health magazine says the Cardiovascular Institute at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center (NYPH-CPMC) in New York City has made massage a standard offering to all surgical patients. NYPH-CPMC is one of many hospitals that now recognize the benefits of massage-a stronger immune system, a reduction in premenstrual symptoms for women, and a better night's sleep-and suggest patients make it a frequent part of their lives.
