Gap remains between patients', docs' use of health IT
EHR Connection, March 5, 2007
Although 62% of Americans say they have used online health tools, and 45% say they would like to be able to e-mail their doctor directly, only 11% say their doctors make themselves available via e-mail. That's according to a Cisco-commissioned survey of 4,105 adults, the results of which illustrate what is becoming an established gap in what consumers expect and what their doctors provide in terms of technology.
The Internet accounted for three of the top five sources of health information and advice, with 44% of respondents pointing to medical Web sites, and 32% to online search engines.
Learn more about Cisco's survey, including what people who use online health tools are actually doing with them, on the Cisco Web site.
