Offering a subsidized fitness program to Medicare managed care beneficiaries who have diabetes may help to lower their overall healthcare costs, especially among members who use the program often, a new study concludes. The study found that those who only used the free exercise class occasionally had similar healthcare costs to control subjects, but those who attended the class frequently had lower total annual healthcare costs.
