Nurse charged with stealing drugs
LTC Liability Monitor, February 20, 2007
A licensed practical nurse (LPN) at an Albany County, NY, nursing home has been charged with stealing more than 1,000 hydrocodone pills from the facility where she worked since September 2004, according to the North Country Gazette. Police said the LPN stole the painkillers for her own addiction and that she destroyed records at the nursing home to try and hide the thefts. She faces charges of tampering with business records, a felony, and petty larceny, a misdemeanor. Nursing home staff contacted police after finding they didn't have enough of the medication to fill a resident's prescription and that narcotics tracking reports were missing, reported the Gazette.
