Texas hospital goes paperless
E-Health Trend Watch, February 16, 2007
Memorial Hermann Sugar Land (TX) Hospital is the first hospital in the Houston area to use paperless check-in technology through its medical facility, according to an article in the Houston Business Journal. Patients will enter their vital statistics into a tablet personal computer instead of putting pen to paper and completing forms. The hospital also offers other services aimed at creating a digital environment for healthcare, such as tracking patients through the operating room, hands-free communication devices that let nurses and staff connect to one another, patient armbands that help determine medications and dosages, and electronic medical records.
