Wealthy worry about healthcare costs, too
Healthcare Strategist Trend Watch, February 16, 2007
A survey taken late last year by The PNC Financial Services Group shows that the middle class and the poor aren't the only ones who worry about the cost of healthcare.
According to www.MSNBC.com, a survey of more than 1,100 people with assets totaling more than $500,000, shows that 43% of respondents think healthcare costs will eat a large portion of their means. The percentage is up 6% since the same survey was taken in late 2005.
The biggest worries appear to be long-term care and the insolvency of Medicare. Forty-seven percent said they fear that the cost of nursing homes will eat their wealth, while 51% said Medicare's uncertainty was a danger to their family's assets.
