ACOG looks for support from healthcare providers

Managed Care Weekly Advisor, February 7, 2007

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) is demanding support from healthcare providers, as well as employers and hospitals, for women who breast-feed their babies.

A committee from ACOG released a report, "Breast-feeding: Maternal and Infant Aspects" which states that breast-feeding is the "preferred method of feeding for newborns and infants, and nearly every woman can breast-feed her child," according to an article from Medicalnewstoday.com.

This report is part of a federal campaign to have more than 50% of women breast-feeding by 2010.
