Phony pipe bomb at Boston hospital

Healthcare Security Weekly, February 5, 2007

A disgruntled former hospital employee allegedly planted a sophisticated but phony pipe bomb in an office at the Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston Wednesday morning, reported the Boston Herald. Police identified a suspect, but  the person had not been changed, the newspaper said.

Members of the Boston Police bomb squad detonated the pipe bomb, which was a realistic-looking fake, sources told the newspaper.  Some administrative offices at the hospital were briefly evacuated.
