Bill would require ASCs to address assaults of employees
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, January 31, 2007
A bill introduced earlier this month in the Oregon Legislative Assembly would require healthcare employers, including ambulatory surgery centers (ASC), to address assaults of employees committed on the employer's premise.
The bill, HB 2022, would also require the employers to address assaults in the home of a patient receiving home healthcare services.
If the bill is passed, employers would need to perform a number of tasks, including tracking and recording details about any assaults, providing assault training for employees, and conducting assessments of their facilities to determine potential hazards for assaults.
