Providers have major problems with claim denials from MCOs

Managed Care Weekly Advisor, January 31, 2007

Claim denials by Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) are a big problem for providers, according to a survey from The Managed Care Information Center.

On average for 2006, 18.3% of claims were denied. The survey found that 45.6% of the respondents viewed claim denials as a problem confronting both hospitals and physicians, and 40% of the respondents routinely receive an initial denial on their claims.
