Student, school board sued for fatal fall
LTC Liability Monitor, January 29, 2007
The Polk County School Board in Florida is facing a lawsuit after a nursing home resident fell and later died while in the care of a student, reported the Lakeland (FL) Ledger. The resident's daughter filed a wrongful death suit against the student and school board. The daughter blames the student, who is enrolled in a health science education program in Lakeland, for negligence for leaving the resident unsupervised while in the bathroom. The suit also charges the school board for negligence for not properly training the student, according to the Ledger.
