New Hampshire hospitals to report HAIs
Infection Control Monitor, January 19, 2007
A new law that takes effect July 1 will require New Hampshire hospitals to report information on hospital-acquired infections (HAI).
The law requires every hospital in the state to report the number and type of HAIs to the state Department of Health and Human Services, reported the Eagle-Tribune. State health officials will then create a database that consumers can access via the Internet to compare HAIs by hospital.
Including New Hampshire, 15 states now have laws requiring hospitals to report infection rates. Three states-Florida, Missouri, and Pennsylvania-have made the data available to the public.
