Clinics as convenient as the local pharmacy
Healthcare Strategist Trend Watch, January 19, 2007
Walk-in healthcare clinics tucked inside local pharmacies are giving patients quick, easy access to doctors and nurse practitioners in California.
Sutter Express Care operates four retail-based clinics in the Sacramento, CA-area. Two more are expected to open later this year. Nationwide, there are 235 retail-based clinics in the United States, according to The Sacramento Bee.
Patients with strep throat, ear infections, and other routine ailments can get a diagnosis and any needed antibiotics in one stop at these clinics. Sutter Express Care accepts most types of health insurance, meaning patients can visit a clinic without having an appointment and at a location that is convenient for them, for the same copay amount they would be charged for an office visit.
