Wal-Mart defends its reputation

Healthcare Strategist Trend Watch, January 12, 2007

Wal-Mart started a television campaign Monday touting its employee health insurance plan and its history as a good employer. The campaign aims to negate claims from union-supported groups that say Wal-Mart pays meager wages and forces employees into public healthcare programs.

One of the ads features benefits of Wal-Mart's private insurance plan for its 1.3 million U.S. employees. The ad says Wal-Mart offers an employee health plan that costs $23 per month.

The ads will be shown on broadcast and cable stations throughout the United States and run for a yet-to-be-determined amount of time.
