Governor Pataki announces $52 million in grant funding
E-Health Trend Watch, January 19, 2007
More than $52 million will fund advanced health information technology (HIT) initiatives in New York, Governor George E. Pataki announced in November 2006. Under the terms of the five year agreement negotiated by the governor with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, additional federal funding will be made available to supplement the state funds. The funding is part of the Healthcare Efficiency and Affordability Law for New Yorkers (HEAL NY).
The funding will be available to healthcare facilities that work together with other providers in their community to create HIT for sharing clinical data among healthcare providers. These awards will range from a minimum of $100,000 to a maximum of $5 million. Healthcare providers interested in applying for HEAL NY grant funding may obtain an application by visiting the New York State Department of Health's Web site.
