Man impersonating doctor hits security guard with car
Healthcare Security Weekly, January 15, 2007
Police in Hazel Crest, IL, are looking for a 22-year-old Homewood man they believe posed as a doctor January 9 at Advocate South Suburban Hospital.
The man, who was wearing a white lab coat and stethoscope, may have followed a worker into the hospital through an employee entrance, according to news reports. Nurses on the hospital's second floor noticed he did not have an ID badge and the man fled when confronted.
A security guard approached the man in the parking lot. The man then got in a car and drove in reverse, hitting the security officer with the car door and dragging him about 20 feet before he fell to the ground. Homewood police later stopped the car and the man fled on foot.
