Florida increases basic care requirements
LTC Liability Monitor, January 8, 2007
A promise made by the Florida legislature in 2001 to raise basic care for nursing home residents is finally reality, reported The Ledger of Lakeland, FL. Although advocates say they are glad to see progress, they also criticize lawmakers for the two-year delay in implementing the law. There is also a concession to the legislation-the original version called for nursing homes to provide 2.9 hours of certified nursing assistant care per day, but that's been changed to 2.9 hours averaged over a week, according to The Ledger
