Five large employers to give workers EMRs

E-Health Trend Watch, January 5, 2007

Five of the nation's largest employers plan to give their workers their own electronic medical records (EMRs). The employees will be able to take those records with them when they travel, change jobs, or see a new doctor, according to an Associated Press article. The move affects approximately 2.5 million employees and their dependents. The companies providing the EMRs are Applied Materials, BP America, Inc., Intel Corporation, Pitney Bowes, and Wal-Mart.
