In reputation survey, hospital is bumped by a coffee chain

Healthcare Strategist Trend Watch, January 2, 2007

In Massachusetts, a nonprofit healthcare organization still holds the top spot for overall reputation, but another well-known hospital got bumped out of second place by a ubiquitous coffee chain. The Dunkin' Donuts chain placed second between Brigham and Women's Hospital and Children's Hospital, both in Boston, according to a survey by Morrissey & Company, a Boston-based reputation management and public relations firm. The annual survey asks business executives to rate the reputations of the state's leading private and public enterprises.

Brigham & Women's Hospital, which recently settled a threatened nurse's strike, proved itself worthy of first place by averting a potentially reputation-damaging incident, according to a Morrissey & Company press release.

"Reputation is about more than advertising and getting people's attention," said Morrissey & Company CEO and President, Peter A. Morrissey. "It is fundamentally about delivering what you promised, being a good neighbor, and being a good place to work."
