Spreading flu news through new media
Healthcare Strategist Trend Watch, January 2, 2007
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Center for Health Marketing have turned to blogs and other types of social media to encourage Americans to get their flu shots. The CDC has a Web page about vaccinations (www.cdc.gov/flu) and has also used the Internet site Whyville, a virtual community for children that encourages learning and creativity, to teach children about the immunization. The National Center for Health Marketing held a Webcast earlier this month with flu experts and bloggers.
