Missouri health agency to post hospital infection rates
Infection Control Monitor, December 29, 2006
Missouri residents will soon be able to access the rates of hospital-acquired infections (HAI) at healthcare facilities in that state, reported the Jefferson City News Tribune.
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services plans to release the data on its Web site at www.dhss.mo.gov. The department recently completed the collection of select HAI data and complication rates. It will initially post data associated with central line and associated bacterial infections, the newspaper reported. The state planned to post the information by December 31.
In the spring of 2007, the health department will also post information on surgical complications and skin infections. Missouri is one of 15 states with mandated reporting of HAI rates, the newspaper said.
