Man allegedly kidnaps wife from nursing home
LTC Liability Monitor, December 18, 2006
An 85-year-old man from Center Line, MI, is accused of kidnapping his wife from a nursing home and taking her to Florida, where they lived for nearly a year before authorities found them, reported the Associated Press (AP). The man has been charged with kidnapping for taking his wife from the facility in January. They lived in Florida until about November 1, when a Medicaid claim tipped off police, authorities said. The man had been a guardian for his wife, who is about the same age, for several years but was stripped of that designation because of how he cared for her. He is being held in jail, while his wife lives in their home under full-time care, according to the AP.
