HCPro acquires National Health Information

Press Releases, August 31, 2006

HCPro, Inc., has expanded into managed care publishing by acquiring National Health Information, LLC, (NHI).

NHI, of Atlanta, Georgia, is a business-to-business healthcare publisher with subscription newsletters and books in managed care, and also in several of HCPro's core markets, such as health information management and long-term care. HCPro is purchasing all the assets of NHI, including 13 newsletters and ancillary products, several manuals, and 1 directory.

HCPro will create a new managed care market, composed of NHI's newsletters that focus on payors and vendors affiliated with payors, such as disease management, capitation, and consumer-driven healthcare. HCPro also plans to launch several additional products in this space in the next 12 months to complement the acquired publications.

"With such attention being paid to controlling healthcare costs nationwide," said HCPro CEO Bruce Guzowski, "we are particularly excited about the prospects for growth in the consumer-driven healthcare and disease management newsletters and ancillary products."

"I'm thrilled to be joining up with HCPro," said David Schwartz, NHI's founder and president. "Their organization is a perfect fit for NHI's products, and their marketing and development muscle will surely bring significant growth to our product line at a pace that we simply could not accomplish on our own."

"We've known and respected David Schwartz and his company for years," Guzowski said, noting that NHI and HCPro have partnered on many successful audioconferences the past several years.

The NHI deal is HCPro's fourth acquisition of 2006, following six publishing acquisitions in 2005. This article was prepared by Managed Care Weekly Digest editors from staff and other reports. Copyright 2006, Managed Care Weekly Digest via NewsRx.com.
