Deer drama at hospital
Healthcare Security Weekly, December 11, 2006
A whitetail deer caused a bit of a ruckus at Memorial Hospital of Cardondale (IL) when the animal almost entered the facility's main lobby last weekend. Instead, the six-point buck fled down the hospital sidewalk, reported The Southern Illinoisan.
The hospital's head of security said the deer was spotted by a security officer making a routine check outside the facility near the emergency room entrance. The officer said a large buck ran up the sidewalk near the circular drive in front of the main lobby and headed right at him. When the deer saw the security guard he changed direction and fled. The animal didn't get near enough to the automatic doors into the main lobby to open them.
