Nemours to monitor sick children remotely
E-Health Trend Watch, December 1, 2006
Two Florida organizations will launch a pilot project that will allow doctors to monitor sick children remotely. The initiative, a partnership between Nemours Children's Clinic and power company JEA, both in Jacksonville, FL, received the 2006 Governor of Florida's Innovation Award. The $1 million project will periodically collect measurements of children's lungs and other body systems. The data will be sent through a broadband connection over power lines to Nemours. From there, the children's physicians can access the data over the Internet.
