Surgery tracker reduces delays and improves patient volumes
E-Health Trend Watch, November 17, 2006
Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) of Buffalo, NY, is using PathFinder, a tracking system created by PeriOptimum of Pittsburgh to follow surgery patients from pre- to postop, according to an article in Business First of Buffalo. The system has reduced delays and improved patient volumes since ECMC launched it in summer 2006. Inpatient surgery cases have increased by 6% and outpatient cases by 25%. The center expects to see a $2 million benefit from greater revenue and more efficient use of the staff, according to CEO Michael Young.
