APTA sets up hotline to Congress

Rehab Private Practice Alert, November 15, 2006

The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) is urging therapists to call Congress directly through the association's newly formed Capitol Hill hotline.

The APTA set up a phone line for therapists to use from November 13 through 21 to contact their state senators and representatives about preventing the Medicare fee schedule cuts and extending the therapy cap exceptions process.

People who call 866/346-9066 will first be provided with talking points and then will be put through to the office of their state representatives or senators, according to PT Bulletin Online.

If Congress doesn't take action, therapists will see up to a 10% cut in the fee schedule and a therapy cap with no exceptions in 2007.
