ASC associations submit comments to CMS regarding proposed 2008 changes
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, November 15, 2006
The major ambulatory surgery center (ASC) associations submitted comments last week to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regarding proposed rules that would revise the ASC payment system and provide a major update to the ASC list of Medicare-approved procedures, effective 2008.
The comments generally lobby for an increase in the percentage of hospital outpatient departments rates that Medicare is proposing to pay ASCs and greater expansion of the procedure list to increase Medicare beneficiary access to ASC services.
