Nursing home employee suspended

LTC Liability Monitor, November 13, 2006

A licensed practical nurse (LPN) has been suspended from a nursing home for failing to immediately report an alleged assault on a resident, reported the Lakeland (FL) Ledger. The LPN allegedly saw a janitor inappropriately touch a female resident who is blind, deaf, and unable to speak. Although the LPN notified a supervisor about the incident, it wasn't officially reported to administrators for two days, according to reports. The janitor was charged with lewd and lascivious battery on an elderly/disabled person and released from jail on $15,000 bail, according to the Ledger.
