Court gives administrator five years in jail

LTC Liability Monitor, October 30, 2006

A nursing home administrator in Robinson Township, PA, was recently sentenced to five years in federal prison for defrauding Medicare and Medicaid, reported the Philadelphia Inquirer. A jury in August 2005 convicted the administrator on charges of healthcare fraud and making false statements regarding the facility's records. Prosecutors said the records were doctored at the request of the administrator to cover up inadequate care of Alzheimer's residents. Charges also claimed the administrator bilked the government out of $8 million from 1999 to 2003, according to the Inquirer.
