Violations keep facility from Medicare funding
LTC Liability Monitor, October 30, 2006
A Muscatine, IA, nursing home owner failed to restore his facility's Medicare funding after more than 25 violations were found during a site visit to reapply for state reimbursement, according to the Associated Press (AP). The violations came one month after the home switched owners amid previous poor reports from the state. The new owner took over in September and requested the inspection to restore the Medicare funding it lost for previous violations. One of the violations was lack of a medical director and no arrangements for a doctor to handle medical emergencies 24 hours a day, reported the AP.
