Hospital staff members injured in ruckus
Healthcare Security Weekly, October 30, 2006
Several staff members at Montana State Hospital in Warm Springs were injured last week in a disturbance involving four male patients who drank alcohol apparently smuggled in by a visitor, reported The Montana Standard.
Police said at least three hospital employees who were kicked, choked, or punched sought medical attention and as many as 15 staff members gave an account of injuries in incident reports, including bumps and scrapes. Hospitals authorities and police are investigating to find out how the patients got the alcohol and how the disturbance began, the newspaper reported. As the situation escalated, hospital staff called police. It took nine members of the police department and assistance from the highway patrol to subdue and arrest the four patients.
