Hospital to use bar-coded sponges
E-Health Trend Watch, October 27, 2006
Workers at the Veterans' Administration West Los Angeles Health Care Center will begin using bar-coded sponges and other equipment from Los Angeles-based SurgiCount Medical. The goal of the sponges is twofold: to ensure that nothing is left inside of a patient and to reduce the need to count and recount surgical sponges.
