Nurse charged with stealing drugs from residents
LTC Liability Monitor, October 23, 2006
A registered nurse (RN) from Plainfield, VT, was charged with stealing narcotics from nursing home residents, reported the Burlington Free Press. The charges include one count of obtaining a regulated drug by deceit, one count of making a false statement in records, and one count of abuse of a vulnerable adult. The nurse pleaded innocent to the charges, which will earn her five years imprisonment and $11,000 in fines if convicted. After her arraignment, the RN was released on conditions, including that she not provide direct resident care or buy, have, or use regulated drugs without a prescription, according to the Free Press.
