Washington medical group warns patients about data theft

Madrona Medical Group in Bellingham, WA, has asked thousands of patients to monitor their credit reports after a former employee was charged with illegally downloading patient files onto his personal laptop computer. Officials sent letters to patients asking them to take steps to ensure that no one uses the information illegally, although the officials do not believe that the files were copied or used for identity theft.
